Faces of Komen Ambassadors Program

The Komen Ambassadors program is an outreach approach created to increase breast cancer awareness across our Affiliate’s 38 county service area. The program and our Ambassadors accomplish this in two ways: by reaching out and working from within. By reaching out, Ambassadors extend our outreach activities in our service area regions through educational programming, community engagement, fundraising, and advocacy. They also work within their regions to mobilize their fellow community members to work with us to accomplish our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

Ambassadors will be asked to assist the Affiliate in reaching communities throughout our service area by:

  • Serving as a liaison on behalf of Komen North Central Alabama by offering educational programs and assistance to community members within their assigned region
  • Providing information on breast health, breast cancer, and local resources and programs
  • Conducting at least one breast health and/or breast cancer awareness program or activity per quarter in their assigned region
  • Providing referrals to community services and resources as needed
  • Providing follow up support when needed
  • Engaging community members to take action against breast cancer
  • Attending Komen Ambassador meetings and/or workshops
  • Committing at least 4 hours per month to the Komen Ambassadors program
  • Serving in the traditional spirit of volunteerism in a supportive relationship with the Affiliate staff and other Komen Ambassadors
  • Recruiting other volunteers in the region to join a regional Promise Committee – a local group of Komen North Central Alabama volunteers
