Current Community Grants
Komen North Central Alabama is the local source for funding breast cancer detection services, support programs, and educational awareness activities in north central Alabama. Through its 2019-20 community grants, Komen North Central Alabama is investing $65,000 in screening, diagnosis, and patient navigation programs here in north central Alabama, provided by 2 local organizations that serve communities across our service area. Since it was founded in 1992, Komen North Central Alabama has invested more than $10 million in local breast health agencies and organizations.
It is estimated that thousands of people in our service area today are living with breast cancer. The funds Komen North Central Alabama grants to community programs in our service area have made a positive difference in the lives of those living with this deadly disease.
2019-2020 Community Grants Program Grantees
Cooper Green Mercy Health Services – Breast Health Patient Navigator and Copay & Full Pay Waiver Project – $40,050
Alabama Dept. of Pubic Health – Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program – $24,950
The remaining 25% of net funds were invested into the Susan G. Komen Grants Program managed at the national level. To learn more about Susan G. Komen’s research investment, click here.
